dental implants

Dental implants are a popular and very effective way to replace lost or missing teeth and restore your smile. They are designed to blend in with your original teeth and are a great long-term option. If you have missing teeth, dental implants could be right for you. Some factors can prevent you from having dental implants so be sure to talk to your doctor first.

Dental implants are made up of a post that is surgically placed in the upper or lower jaw, depending where you have a missing tooth. This post functions as a sturdy anchor for replacement teeth. The replacement teeth are a custom-made crown that will match the existing teeth in your mouth. Depending on how many teeth you have missing, you can choose different types of dental implants.

There are three different types of dental implants: single tooth replacement, multiple tooth replacement, and removable implant-supported tooth replacement. A single tooth replacement replaces one tooth. The custom crown is attached to the post which is surgically placed into your jaw. Multiple custom crowns or bridgework will replace multiple teeth in a multiple tooth replacement. These teeth or bridgework will match your existing teeth. If all of your lower or upper teeth are missing, you could have a removable implant. Depending on which teeth are missing, the duration of the process can change. Basically, it is a removable denture that can snap or be clipped into place inside of your mouth.

The healing, fitting and surgery processes can differ from the different types of dental implants you receive. For more information go to:
